Living Off Grid With Alternative Energy
We know of some independent minded folks named Andrew and Jane who decided to get off the grid and move into a sustainable home that was powered by their own solar energy panels and a wind generator. The trouble with their plan was that they encountered budgetary problems. Any solar panels or wind turbines they could purchase were too expensive for their budget. Undaunted, they kept on digging until they devised ways to build alternative energy systems themselves. And despite what they were told, it turned out not to be easy.
A friend had said it was simple to cobble together a wind generator. There are lots of plans you can download on the internet, he said. Well, after blowing more than $100 on blueprints that might just as well have been written in Greek they were so opaque to understand, and doing research for nearly half of a year, they finally got a wind generator up and running. They’re proud to say it cranks out more than 800 watts of electricity during peak wind periods.
It was a similar effort sourcing and figuring out how to install solar panels to transform the sun’s rays into electricity. But, after lots of trial and error, they were able to install and wire up all the solar panels they needed and in the process saved a whopping three thousand dollars.
Andrew and Jane have decided to share their alternative energy experiences with other folks who want to become more independent and live off the grid.
